Application Process

Each applicant must submit their application materials before they are granted an interview with staff. Application materials are accepted at any time before the deadline. Applicants may either visit out office to pick up an application or call to have one delivered by mail.

In order to receive consideration into the College Readiness Program, the following application materials must be submitted:

1. College Readiness Application:

Permanent Residents must submit a copy of both sides of their alien registration card (green cards) and/or proof of citizenship with their applications.

2. Proof of FAFSA filing:

In order to complete the admission process, a copy of the “Free Application for Federal Student Aid” (FAFSA) confirmation page must be submitted. The FAFSA Application is not only a requirement of the College Readiness Program, but of any educational grant program who receives funding from the State of Rhode Island. Students who have not filed a FAFSA application with the Federal government must do so in order to receive grant money. 3. OFFICIAL High School Transcript and/or GED scores:

Applicants should go to the last high school that they attended and request that their official transcript be submitted to the College Readiness Program. If the applicant has earned their GED, they must submit an official copy of their GED scores AND their official high school transcript of grades completed, if any, from their high school. High school transcripts must include ALL grades through students Senior Year.

4. Two (2) Letters of Recommendation:

Letters of recommendation must be from persons other than relatives (i.e., teachers, guidance counselors, employers, mentors, etc.)

5. Personal Statement:

Applicants must submit a personal statement that describes why he/she is apply for admission to the College Readiness Program. If an applicant is no longer in high school, they should highlight their activities since their last enrollment.

Applicants who do not submit the required materials will not be granted an interview; therefore, they will not be considered for admission.

The deadline to submit application materials is June 1.
